If you know me, you know that I am cautious about what brands/products I recommend/suggest.
But, if I find something I love, I can’t help but share!
If you know me, you also know that as a mother of 6, I have spent years doing all I can to feed my family nutrient-dense, high-quality foods on a tight budget. Which is never an easy task…
So, if I find something that can provide my family with high quality products at a tremendous value, you bet I am going to be excited to share!
This is why my ears perked up when I was recently contacted by a new co-op opportunity.
Co-ops are generally made up of communities striving to provide better quality products at affordable prices. Much like with my love of subscription boxes, there are different co-ops that I have fallen in love with that have helped to feed my family in a way that is healthy but still affordable. This new one is certainly no exception to the rule.
The Savory Butcher
Recently, I was contacted by an up-and-coming co-op that is seeking to help families provide farm-to-table meats at lower prices.
Having participated in these types of co-ops previously with mixed results, seeing them grow then fade away, I was a little hesitant at first…but then I researched a little deeper and became excited at the possibilities I see with how this new cooperative is setting its roots and spreading its wings.
The Savory Butcher offers high-quality meats (including grass-fed and finished beef, Mary’s Organic Chicken, farm-fresh uncured bacon and more!) at tremendous discounts by leveraging the power of buying in bulk.
While they are currently (as of April 2019) available in Dallas and Houston, TX, parts of Idaho, Washington, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, and Oregon; The Savory Butcher is striving to spread awareness of their product through food bloggers like me and hoping to hone in on their next-big area by doing so.
So far, we are extremely happy with the quality of the meat we have received from them. The beef we used for this recipe was flavorful but lean, super high-quality at an extremely affordable price.

Asian Ground Beef
Ingredients
Instructions
- In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and garlic, breaking it into crumbles over medium heat until the meat is no longer pink.
- In a separate bowl, mix together the honey, coconut aminos, tahini paste, ginger, and red pepper flakes. Pour over ground beef and let simmer until mostly absorbed into the meat. Add salt and pepper to taste.
- Serve over rice or (even better) my Super Easy Cauliflower Rice.
- Enjoy!

This sounds delish! We are not doing sweetener at this time . What could I sub for honey ?
<3 while I haven't tried it, I have a feeling this dish would be delicious without the honey but ultimately have a totally different flavor. That being said, many of my Whole30 recipes use pineapple or pineapple juice in place of any sweetener. I would start with 1/2 c pineapple juice, allowing the sauce to cook longer with the meat so that the liquid evaporates a bit before serving. Adjust to your personal taste from there. If you try this, please report back and let us know! Have fun experimenting!
