Is your toilet cleaner making you fat?
I know this seems like a strange question…but bear with me.
I have been blessed to help hundreds of people find health, happiness and hope through nutrition and natural solutions over the last several years, and there is one thing that I have noticed by sharing this journey to holistic wellness with so many people…those who eliminate environmental, emotional and internal toxins fastest are also the ones who achieve their optimal wellness, and optimal weight the fastest.
Those who hold onto their old toxic habits in any way are the ones who struggle to make it to the next level.
We can change your diet and you can see tremendous success, but without changes to your environment and learning how to better handle emotional stressors, you’ll struggle to really make it to your final goal. Vice versa.
Think about it. We know that an animal’s quality of life, the food they are fed, the environment they are raised in, and even the amount of stress they suffer can affect the quality of their meat. With that, it makes sense that the things we are exposed to, environmentally, emotionally and physically will have an immediate impact on our overall wellness…right?
And it does.
So while I would eventually like to address the importance of eliminating toxins in your food, supplements, water, etc, and I most definitely will talk about how to effectively help manage your emotions in a positive and immediately impactful way, today I wanted to visit with you a little bit about environmental toxins and what we can do to help minimize our exposure.
Once upon a time I worked with a Heating and Air Conditioning Company (HVAC) who was extremely focused on helping our customers to improve their indoor air quality. It was during that time that I learned the most dangerous air we breathe is often the air within our own home.
Think about it…how often are you really opening your windows to let air circulate throughout? How often does your home “breathe,” and how adequate is the ventilation in your home?
Every chemical you use to help ‘clean’ your floors, your counters, your mirrors, your toilets…everything you use to make your home smell better…every single thing you put into the air (on purpose or through your daily routine) has an impact on your body, is immediately absorbed into your brain making a direct impact on your hypothalamus, your pituitary gland, your lymphatic system; environmental toxins also have a tremendous impact on your bones, your hormones and yes, your weight.
So how important is it that you change how you clean your air, your counters, your floors and your toilets?
How important is it to you to be well?
Really? How important is it to you?
And while this topic has been heavily on my mind for quite some time, when the company I am professionally aligned with announced that they were going to have a 7-Day Green Cleaning Challenge, I knew it was the perfect time to reach out to my readers and focus on why green cleaning is so important.
So if you are interested in really making a life-long positive impact on the wellness of your home, your family and yourself, now is the perfect time to get started!

While we’re at it, feel free to enjoy this natural toilet cleaner to help start making the leaps you are hoping to make!
- ¾ c baking soda
- ½ c citric acid
- 10 drops essential oil of preference (I love lemon for it’s extra cleaning umph and delightful scent)
- A misting spray bottle with water
- In a medium glass bowl, mix together the baking soda and citric acid. Using a fork, mix in your essential oils of choice, doing your best to get it spread evenly throughout the dry mix. Slowly mist the dry powder with water, mixing as you go. Too much water will cause fizzing and lower the quality of the cleaning power of these tabs, too little water and it won’t stick together, but you should only need 2 or 3 sprays to make this work. You want the mix to barely be wet enough to stick together, it will look a lot like beach sand when it’s ready.
- When finished mixing, press mix into your favorite ice cube tray or press firmly into a 1 tsp measuring spoon, placing each ball onto a piece of parchment paper then allowing them to dry overnight (at least 6 hours).
