The Ultimate Bath Soak

With 5 kids in 4 different schools, two of whom start their day at one school and finish at two totally different campuses on opposite ends of the town; my mornings and afternoons are hectic to say the least.

Between juggling children from location to location, transporting my boys from early morning tutorials on their primary campuses (which, of course, are on opposite ends of town) to their first period class which is at a totally different campus than where they finish their days…taking my two youngest children and my nephew to their school then often dropping off my oldest daughter and her friend at their Jr. High…most mornings I spend between 1.5-2 hours transporting children to school.

And that’s with my husband helping to transport my boys from their early morning church class to their primary campuses for those tutorial sessions.

But today, today something magical happened.

Today, due to a field trip, my boys didn’t have tutorials so my husband simply took them from their church class over to their first period class, no need for me to take them from place to place.

Then my two youngest and nephew had a donut with dad’s event at school; which of course meant my husband and brother in law were handling the morning school transportation for these three as well.

Then to top it off, my oldest girl hitched a ride with one of her best school friends and well…

Left me with 2 extra hours and nowhere to go!

So what is a busy mom to do when she has some unexpected extra time on her hands?

Why take a luxurious soak in the tub, of course!

I do my best to take at least one morning a week to do this…with church starting at 1pm this year, Sunday mornings are often my go-to. Unfortunately, a weekly soak does not always happen…in fact, it has been well over two months since I managed to squeeze one in.

With the physical, emotional and nutritional benefits that come with the recipe I am going to share with you today, it really is important to do what you do everything you can to stop for just 20 minutes and spend some time on YOU.

Here’s what I use and why I use it:

Raw Apple Cider Vinegar: Helps to draw toxins out of the body, helps to reduce inflammation and manage infections. Apple cider vinegar also helps to tone and moisturize the skin, is very soothing and can help maintain the proper pH level of your skin.

Epsom Salt: When dissolved in warm water, Epsom salt is absorbed through the skin and helps to replenish the level of magnesium on your body. Magnesium is known to help produce serotonin, a mood-elevating chemical which encourages feelings of calm and relaxation. Epsom salt is also known to ease and relieve inflammation and supports nerve and muscle function. Epsom salt also helps to eliminate toxins from the body.

Baking Soda: Can help detoxify and alkalize your body. Is known to help neutralize skin acidity and promote the elimination of toxins.

Olive Oil: Olive oil serves a double purpose in this bath. Rich I vitamin E and A, olive oil is very hydrating and helps to encourage elasticity and softness in the skin. Additionally, because I use powerful essential oils in my bath, water drives oils in deeper, olive oil helps to prevent sensitivity in this process.

Essential Oils: What essential oils I use in my bath is determined by the time of the day I am bathing (morning oils are going to differ from evening oils), whether or not I am seeking an extra boost to my immune system and whether or not, if I need to focus on my many projects for the day, or if I am just seeking a little extra encouragement or peace.

Just like the warning you are given during the safety portion of any flight, you must first put on your safety mask before you stop to take care of anyone else… consider this 20 minutes of luxury your safety mask… you simply cannot take care of anyone else as well as you should if you don’t slow down to take care of yourself first.

You totally deserve this.
